Members were dispatched to Ameren power plants (Callaway, Meramec, Rush Island, Sioux, Labadie), Kansas City industrial + Bendix nuclear weapons plant, St. Louis chemical + auto + brewery (Anheuser-Busch) + steel (Granite City adjacent) operations — facilities where structural, ornamental, and reinforcing iron workers allegedly encountered and worked with asbestos-containing materials on a continuous basis.
Plaintiffs alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that IW members applied, removed, worked adjacent to, and disturbed chrysotile-bearing and amphibole-bearing asbestos-containing materials throughout every working day of the asbestos era.
